Lesson Plan: Vegetables and Fruits

Grade: second grade

Time required: 2 hour for 6 days

Presentation

The pupils in this class are taking part in an eTwinning project on fruit and vegetables and therefore it is necessary to teach them some words and phrases in English regarding this topic. Through fun and creative activities, students will have learned the importance of fruit and vegetables as local products but also for their physical health. They will have learned water saving strategies. They will also have developed a European civic consciousness, acquired a more responsible attitude towards others and the world around them, and developed their technological and English language skills.

 

Objectives:

  • learn the L2 in a contextualized way
  • stimulate motivation and interest
  • stimulate the acquisition of musical skills
  • understand the importance of fruit and vegetables in a correct and healthy diet

STEP 1

To activate listening and

comprehension: the teacher plays a song to attract the children's attention. Then she shows two videos to learn the name and pronunciation of fruits and vegetables. . Use of flashcards to introduce fruits and vegetables.

STEP 3

The teacher prepares the cultivation of a vertical garden and buys the plants to grow.

Pupils plant vegetables and fruit in the vertical garden and learn the names of what they grow in English.

STEP 4

STEP 5

The teacher presents the main characteristics of fruit colors in nutrition.

They write the main characteristics in the notebook and memorize at least the characteristics of one fruit color in English.

STEP 6

The teacher uses the Maky Maky program to make Fra Martino Campanaro play with fruit and vegetables.

The pupils play Fra Martino with fruit and vegetables using Maky Maky.
